I Love Autumn!

As a good keen Food Forester - Autumn is my favorite time of the year.
Once you've got over the madness of all the harvesting of fruits, veges, berries, nuts etc. you can really start to plan for the next seasons growth.
Seems really early eh? Planning for spring / summer already..but that is the way it works!
Along with autumn "chop n drop" sessions, my main busy-ness is taking cuttings- not so much planting established plants- although now is a good time for that too- but the cuttings - my aim is to get as many cut and planted or potted up as possible. And I do this in autumn - we have had enough rain for the ground to be nicely moist, but there is also still some warmth in the soil.
Examples of the plants that I am taking cuttings of include my Canadian Elder, rosemary, titonia, lavender, and salvias. I've got gooseberries and currents to do as well- but they've still got their leaves on so I'm leaving them for a bit.
I take the approach with cuttings - nothing to lose- a pencil-sized cutting goes straight into the ground. And then the trick is not to walk on it or chop n drop it!
Give it a go! I mean who doesn't like free plants eh??
