How to Start a Food Forest Workshop 29 & 30 June 2025
We are now offering a two-day Food Forest Workshop that will give you the confidence and skills to create your own Food Forest. The Workshop will be useful for people from both urban and rural backgrounds- the principles and skills you learn are applicable to both small and large land-holdings.
We will teach you how to design, implement, and maintain a food-producing ecosystem that mimics natural forest patterns. We will cover topics such as:
- Designing your Food Forest
- Planting- what to plant where
- Maintenance of your established Food Forest
- Food Forest as a business opportunity
The Workshop will be hosted by Food Forester Deb Butterfield. Deb has over 24 years experience growing a Food Forest and is the kaitiaki for the 4-acre Tinui Food Forest.
Deb says:

"There is a lot of joy and a sense of "doing good" both for you and the environment when you start your own Food Forest. You will be creating a healthy ecosystem for all the inhabitants of your little piece of paradise! And of course, you can grow some yummy fresh organic foods for you and your family at the same time! Food Forests are magic places that provide a real feeling of health. They are very restorative!"
