Hooray for Hazels!
Hooray for Hazels! A very useful and tasty tree!
First off, Hazel wood is durable- which means you will get quite a few years of use from the hazel wood. We grow the Hazel trees multi-stemmed so that we can coppice the lovely long stems that grow from the base of the tree. You can see from the structure pictured- all made from the coppiced hazel wood. We also use Hazel wood for making fences, outside chairs, and tee pees for growing beans and tomatoes over.
And of course we also get the Hazel nuts! Roasted Hazel Nuts. Nutella. Yum!
Hazel trees are a "must have" part of any Food Forest- they are a small-ish tree which work in well with other Food Forest plantings. Highly recommended!!
