Counting Beans!

I'm no bean counter
- but this little lot harvested today will start the bean seed collection nicely for the spring!

What I do through the growing season for beans is to harvest the beans and then prepare them, blanch them and then freeze them in nice meal-sized bags. When I think I have enough stored, I then start to let some of the beans grow to their full size, and the seed saving begins.
As you can see from the bean seeds here- I have a few different varieties. When I plant them out in the spring it's always fun to see what grows!
This year I planted some beans amongst the tomatoes and gherkins- they definitely managed to grow well even with the competition of the other plants.
So don't spill the beans
- but I can highly recommend beans in the Food Forest!
