5 Hot Tips For Picking Elderflowers

When you're picking Elderflowers there are a few things to watch out for:
1. Smell the Elderflower- you are looking for a sweetly floral scent. If no scent then it is not ready for picking.
2. Check the flowers haven't turned brown. You want a soft creamy white coloured flower. If the flower head has browinsh coloured flowers on it- then it is too late.
3. You dont want a flower that has unopened buds. All the flowers need to be open for it to be ready.
4. If the Elderflower bush is not on your land- then as always- check it hasn't been sprayed.
5. It's amazing how many little insects live in an Elderflower! So make sure you give them a good shake before popping them into your basket.
