Uh oh! What do I do?
Uh oh! What do I do?
A delightful, self introduced new wild plant has arrived in the Tinui Food Forest. Usually a time of celebration and happiness. We love our wild plants. They arrive and thrive and give us an opportunity to learn about them and their uses, and to understand the conditions of the ground and the climate that they are thriving in. Cool eh?!
However- this one pictured is Foxglove. Google advises "All parts of the foxglove plant are toxic to animals and people. Even inhaling the pollen can cause an adverse reaction in some people. The leaves have fine hairs that can cause a rash that can last for two to three weeks."
OMG! What is a dedicated Food Forester to do? Well, my answer is nothing. The flowers are nectar-rich so will be loved by bees and other nectar seekers. Important lesson here- it's not all about us! Food Forests exist to create healthy ecosystems for all the inhabitants of the Food Forest- and humans are just a part of that.
Alright- job done!
