Start your food forest today! I grow elderberry, variety Adam throughout my food forest. Unlike the elder variety “nigra”, which grow into trees, these elder plants retain a smaller bush like structure. In my food forest, left unpruned they reach a max height of around 2 metres. However, I do tend to give them a good trim- almost down to ground level in winter. I grow elder for the flowers (elderflower champagne), and also for the berries (elderberry syrup is the best for winter chills and colds). They are also a very attractive looking plant.
The plants that I sell will be last years cuttings, trimmed to around 15cm, plus a really good root structure. They will be sent bare rooted. Get these plants in the ground and you will be harvesting flowers and berries in the summer. Not kidding- even as cuttings they were still producing flowers and berries in their first year!
This is for 3 plants.
These plants are grown organically.
